Flexibility
We focus on stretching to increase our flexibility.
Flexibility is under rated. I'm sure that you have heard this before or you may have even said it yourself, "I don't need to be flexible because I don't kick." Or, "I don't need to stretch because in my system we don't kick to the head." These statements demonstrate a person's lack of knowledge in this area. Flexibility is key for a couple of simple reasons. One, flexibility aids in the prevention of muscle pulls, strains, and tears. Two, flexibility aids greatly in balance. And three, flexibility has a way of improving a person's confidence in a technique that they are called upon to use.
Many of the people who seek out Hybrid Hapkido are searching for a change of lifestyle. They seek to learn how to protect and defend themselves, that goes without saying. They also seek a healthy lifestyle and want to get into shape or remain in shape. Those being the facts, then why leave out the key ingredient of flexibility? Hybrid Hapkido is complete in its design, so we also work on achieving greater flexibility. That does not mean that you must be able to do the splits, but you will become more flexible than you were when you first arrived.
This ingredient of flexibility along with conditioning, cross training, and Hybrid Hapkido techniques equals complete fitness and overall well being.
